We offer several summer intensives at Academie de Ballet. Dancing during the summer helps to keep current skills, gain stronger skills, maintain flexibility, and experience new styles. Our Senior intensive is held each July for three weeks. Our Junior Intensive follows with a three week schedule.The Petite Princess camp finishes up the summer with a one week mini camp!
The Senior Intensive was held July 5th -23rd, 2011. It was such a blessing to see the dancers grow in skills, faith, and fellowship! Curriculum included: classical ballet, pointe, lyrical, jazz, jazz turns and progressions, hip hop, tap, adagio, character, terminology, and conditioning. Prestigious ballerina Elena Bendel Petrovna of the Stanislavsky Opera and Ballet Theatre joins us each year from Moscow to teach the Senior classical and pointe workshop classes. She is not only a gifted dancer, but also a teacher who inspires students to do skills they thought were impossible for them to achieve! We were so pleased to once again have Ryan Warren from Texas to teach Hip Hop with his amazing choreography and explosive word! AdB Assistant Director Melissa Moore taught jazz technique as well as lyrical/contemporary and tap.AdB Ballet Master Andrei Yemelianov taught conditioning and character dance. New AdB faculty member Micah Lindstrom taught Introduction to Irish dancing.
The Junior Intensive will be held July 25th-August 12th. Curriculum includes: classical ballet, lyrical, jazz, hip hop, tap, conditioning, terminology, and acrobatics. The Junior Intensive is taught by Melissa Moore (jazz, hip hop, tap, acrobatics), Jessica Hartsfield (ballet technique), Christine Hartsfield (terminology) , and Micah Lindstrom (Introduction to Irish dance). Drop off 9:15am daily. Classes begin at 10am. Pickup 2:30pm daily. Special event: Greenbrier Skating Center, Thursday, August 4th!! Extended care is available from 2:30- 6pm. Ask at the desk for pricing.Workshop show will be held Friday, August 12th from 2:30pm-4pm in studio "A".
Our Petite Princess camp will be held August 15-19th.This camp is for experienced dancers ages 5 through 7 that have completed at least one year of preballet. Ballet and acrobatics will be taught by Director Arnora Hummel. Jazz and Tap will be taught by Gail Cannaday. Curriculum includes: classical ballet, jazz, tap, and acrobatics. This camp is one week long. Dropoff 9:30am daily. Pickup 1:30pm daily. No special event for this camp.
